Amanda Duryea – Dancer

Amanda Duryea has been dancing since the age of three and has no plans to stop in the near future. While her training began rooted in ballet technique, Amanda knew she wanted to do something different, so she took a huge leap of faith in college and attended a modern-based program, where she found her aesthetic home. She graduated from Arizona State University with a BFA in Dance Performance. While in school Amanda danced in numerous festivals in the Southwest region of the country, including the American College Dance Festival and in 2004 performed in a piece selected for the National ACDF produced at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Amanda was also a founding member of Rayn Dance Theatre in Phoenix, AZ and performed as a soloist for the company for two years before she graduated. After graduation she bounced around the country for a few years, performing with multiple companies and choreographers across the United States including Jennifer Tsukayama and Leanne Schmidt in New York City, Fuzion Dance Artists in Sarasota, FL, and The Dance Cure in Raleigh, NC. She is currently dancing with Black Box Dance Theatre in addition to being thrilled to be a part of Black Irish.
